The Foal Fund

A fund that follows a horse from birth to retirement. Small gifts over a lifetime add up to a safe, paid-for retirement.

How it works

  1. A foal is born. The breeder opens a Foal Fund page with the horse's name, breeding and photo.
  2. People who love the horse give. Owners, trainers, grooms and fans send small amounts after a win, on a birthday, or any day.
  3. The fund grows. A nonprofit partner holds and manages the money. Everyone can see the balance on the horse's page.
  4. The horse retires. The fund pays a trusted aftercare farm for the horse's care.

Sample page. In the real version, gifts go straight to the nonprofit partner holding the fund. The website never holds the money.

Open questions before launch

These are decided with the nonprofit partner and its lawyer or accountant, not by the website.

  1. Which nonprofit or aftercare group holds the funds.
  2. How gifts are invested, and what happens if a horse is sold or passes away.
  3. Tax receipts for donors.
